心，好比是一面本來具有光明的鏡子，但因我們無明煩惱的灰塵，把鏡子原有的光明本體遮蔽了，所以需要用智慧的修行拭去那灰塵，直到沒有一點黑暗。

「如鏡當臺」，心好像明鏡一樣。「隨境映現」，隨著外面的境界，古人所講：「胡來胡現，漢來漢現。」古時候的外國人，我們稱作胡人，外國人走到鏡子的前面，鏡子就現一個外國人的影相。「漢」是我們中國人，中國人在鏡子面前，現的是中國人的影相。事實上鏡子裡，並沒有漢跟胡，鏡子裡面空空洞洞，什麼都沒有，它隨著境界而顯現現象。雖隨著境界變化，「但照前境，不隨境轉」。它只是照外面的境界，外面的境界並不能轉變它。因為它永遠如如不動、乾乾淨淨、一塵不染；心也像鏡子一樣。

我們現代人很可憐，隨著外面境界轉；眼見色，為色所轉；耳聞聲，為音聲所轉。一點都作不了主。古人把這樣的人比喻作老牛，被人用繩子牽著走，自己的心作不了主。寶鏡手提醒我們心不隨境轉，自能一塵不染。

Although it changes with the state, "it remains the same as before and does not change with the state." It only reflects the external realm, and the external realm cannot change it. Because it is always immobile, clean and spotless; the heart is also like a mirror.

We modern people are very pitiful, and we follow the external world; our eyes are driven by colors when we see them; our ears are driven by sounds when we hear sounds. Can't decide at all. The ancients compared such a person to an old ox, being led by others with a rope and having no control over his own heart. The mirror hand reminds us that if our mind does not change with circumstances, it will be spotless.
