"The presence of light is what drew me to glass, it is central to our lives and has so many unique properties, such as being a wave and a particle. Light is central to new research in sciences and hence new discoveries, its interaction with matter offers a changing place. Light is the nerve center of my work, the center of my abstract narratives, the place for potential."
Sally Fawkes在Colin Reid工作室工作了3年，如今與丈夫一起成立工作室，近幾年更時常協助Colin Reid完成創作。因為Colin Reid而接觸到光學玻璃，並以其獨特的切割風格完成了高度完美的創作形式，作品上面所有的凹槽、刻痕、打磨，全部使用手工製作，非常秏費時間，也需要非常精準的控制。在作品的表面，有著許多精巧的切割和加工，這些彷彿像是被「切割」的痕跡，如同一個人所經歷的一切留下的印記，這些印記可以視作傷痕，但同時也可以說是豐富生命的回憶。
《永恆的交流》系列，顏色的挑選是藝術家刻意的安排，透明或金黃色，金黃色令人聯想到土地、火焰、太陽、溫暖和喜悅，透明又有點像銀色的色彩，令人聯想到天堂、月光。但有趣的是，即使兩者是如此不同，但同時存在於一片土地、一個地球，同一宇宙。
創作中大量運用鏡像、鏡子反射特質，是藝術家認為，透過自己的人生，其實是在創造自己的故事，透過自己看到自己的鏡像，時時去省思自己的人生。
Sally Fawkes is introduced to optical glass through Colin Reid. Their highly technical sculptures feature recesses, incisions and polished surfaces all done by hand. This is both time consuming and requires precise command of the material and technique. Look at the surface – each incision is an experience that leaves an indelible mark. Like a scar or a memory. Sally Fawkes's sculpture Eternal Exchange is a fluid piece of two shapes seemingly bisected and bicolored. The golden hue recalls the earth, flames, the sun, warmth and joy while the transparent glass shimmers like the night sky, like moonlight. Although different, these two elements exist together on this land, in this universe. Mirrors occur repeatedly in Sally Fawkes' work. These reflective surfaces tell the story of her life back to herself and us. What she sees in these mirrored images causes her to ponder her very existence.
